Coronation Travel came into being in 2007.

Owner/operator Kim Monteith has been in the travel industry for  thirty years and obtained her CTM ( Certified Travel Manager) designation in 1999. The CTM designation is the highest level of education/certification within the travel industry. Kim was awarded the MacGuire -Walmsley Memorial Award by ACTA ( The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies) for earning the highest mark across Canada for her CTM Management paper. Over the years Kim has managed travel agencies in both Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, and has worked with Island Travel ( The Travel Store), Admiral Travel ( Vision 2000 Travel) Burgess Canplan (Atlantic American Express Travel) , and Maritime Travel. Kim also taught the Travel and Tourism course at Compu College in Halifax in 2008.

Group travel became one of Kim’s interests and she has organized and escorted many groups to a wide array of places around the globe. In the late 90’s , Kim visited Granada Studios and the set of Coronation Street on several occasions, and in 1999, after a recent visit, realized that there were many local people who were also very interested in visiting Coronation Street. So she set about trying to organize a group tour ,with the highlight being a visit to the set of Coronation Street.

Unfortunately that same year in 1999, Granada Studios closed down their public tours of the Coronation Street set, and for the next several years Kim tried to find a way to bring people onto the set. This happened in 2005 with the first group tour, and then in 2007, Coronation Travel was born, with the main focus of the small agency being organized tours to England, and in particular Coronation Street.

The tours have been small group tours which have been very successful and highly rated, with a very high repeat client factor. We work closely with our tour operator partners to provide a quality tour at the best possible price. We choose our tour hosts carefully, as they are the ones who will be looking after our guests each day of the tour.They are extremely caring, personable, knowledgeable, well travelled, and are also die hard Corrie fans ! We have been so very fortunate over the last number of years to have an exceptional Tour Host, Neville MacKay from Halifax, and an amazing Tour Manager from the UK, Marilyn Parker MacKay. A winning combination.
